Polyhouse Structural Analysis

At Graphler Technology Solutions, we take pride in delivering accurate and reliable engineering solutions. In our recent project for our client, we performed a comprehensive Finite Element Analysis (FEA) of a proposed Polyhouse structure to ensure its structural integrity under various load conditions.

Scope of Work

Our scope was to evaluate the structural integrity of the Polyhouse by analyzing stress and deformation patterns under different load conditions:

  • Case 1: Self-weight + Payloads
  • Case 2: Self-weight + Wind Loads (100 km/h wind speed)

Finite Element Modelling

Using the provided CAD model, we generated a finite element model and performed stress and deformation analysis.

Case 1: Self-weight + Payloads

  • Max Deformation: 11.19 mm (Columns)
  • Average Stress: 190 MPa (Columns)

Below: Deformation Contour of Columns and Von-Misses Stress Contour

Case 2: Self-weight + Wind Loads (100 km/h)

  • Max Deformation: 11.8 mm (Columns)
  • Average Stress: 163 MPa (Wire Rope Brackets)
  • Average Stress: 220 MPa (Columns)

Below: Deformation Contour of Columns and Below: Von-Misses Stress Contour

Material Specifications

  • Vertical Columns: Mild Steel (Yield Strength: 270 MPa)
  • Stiffeners & Brackets: HRCA (Yield Strength: 340 MPa)

Conclusion

The analysis confirmed that the Polyhouse columns have an average factor of safety (FOS) of 1.2 or higher under both loading conditions, meeting acceptance criteria for static and infrequent loads. No structural failures were observed, and most stresses were localized.

This project highlights our expertise in structural analysis, reinforcing our commitment to delivering robust engineering solutions.
